Smart lock installation in Fort Worth
Smart locks are genuinely good — until one is fitted to a door that does not close squarely, and the motor spends a year fighting a misaligned strike before it burns out. Most smart lock complaints are really door alignment complaints.
Doing this properly means treating it as door work first and electronics second: check the alignment, adjust the strike, then fit and configure the lock.

What this covers
- Keypad, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi deadbolts installed
- Door and strike plate alignment so the bolt throws without force
- Codes, users, and auto-lock settings configured with you
- A mechanical backup key cut and tested
- Retrofit options that keep your existing exterior hardware
- Rental and short-let setups with per-guest codes

Questions people actually ask
What happens to a smart lock if the battery dies?
Nearly every quality smart lock keeps a mechanical key override, and most warn you for weeks first. Some also let you jump the lock from an external battery. We always cut and test the backup key during installation and make sure you know where it is — a smart lock with no tested backup is a lockout waiting to happen.
Can a smart lock be installed on my existing door?
Usually yes, if the door has a standard bore and the alignment is sound. If the door has dropped or the strike is out of position, that gets corrected first — otherwise the motor works against the frame every cycle and fails early.
Are smart locks secure?
A good one from a reputable brand is at least as secure as a quality mechanical deadbolt, and it removes the risk of copied keys floating around. The weak point is almost never the electronics — it is a hollow strike plate held in by short screws, which is a cheap thing to fix and worth doing on any door.
Which brands do you recommend?
It depends on whether you want keypad-only, phone control, or integration with a wider system, and on what your door will physically take. We would rather look at the door and talk through how you actually use it than push a single brand at everyone.
